Story:
Soul Calibur III has many stories. Each character has his or her own story in the Tales of Souls mode and with each story there are also 2 possible endings. Depending on the choices you make as the player the story will be different. If you make the right choices and don’t get Ko’ed you will even get to fight the real final boss. The other story is that of the Chronicles of the Sword mode. This story revolves around a character you create. You are a student at the Grandall military academy and want to become a soldier. There is a war brewing between the 3 large countries: Grandall, Dalkia and Haltese. You will proceed in missions against kinds of different opponents. The rest is up to you to discover. Most fighting games don’t have a very well thought out story. However this one does.

Game play:
First there is Tales of souls. This can be compared to the Arcade mode of Soul Calibur II. The only real difference is they put more effort into the storylines of each character.
Then the second mode is Chronicles of the Sword. Here you have to create your own character that will play the hero throughout the entire game. You have to choose his class, clothing and weapons. In this mode you can create a many characters as you can create in Create a soul. This amount can be increased from 3 to 10. The missions are on a sort of maps. You can direct you character on roads and at almost every crossroad there is a fortress. Fortresses can be taken over and they heal and give protection to the units inside. Every mission has a goal which you must accomplish and a few things you must prevent your enemy from accomplishing.
Soul Arena is the next mode. In Soul arena you can take part in battles with various special effects and rules. In soul arena it is possible to play as a CAS(Create a soul).
A mode that will come in handy for the noobies is Practice. In this mode it is possible to learn just about every good move from any standard character.
Create a soul is where you create characters for Soul Arena and 2 player modes.

Graphics:
The graphics are outstanding. The characters and the stages have never looked more beautiful. Only the CAS is a very small disappointment. They all look exactly alike from a far. Nonetheless the graphics are excellent.

Sound:
The soundtrack is that of Soul Calibur and Soul Calibur II. The weapon clashing is also very well done in this game. The background music really makes the game complete.

Overall: The best fighting game I have ever played. Great story for a fighting game, fantastic game play, fabulous graphics and beautiful music. What more do you want? I know I don’t need anything else. Oh yeah and before I forget if you play this game you are most likely to get addicted to it. I know I am.
