Introduction: Eidos has always delivered quality games to me. I've never had a complaint about Eidos, until now. Backyard Wrestling, with all it's problems and gameplay mechanics turns out to be the worst wrestling game I have ever played. Some may ask, ''Even worse than WWF Raw?'' and I say yes. As you read on, you'll learn exactly what makes Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home the worst wrestling game ever made. The sad thing is, I can honestly say I enjoyed Promotion Wars for the PC (a text wrestling game) more. Now, let me explain why I hate this game so much...

Graphics: In the graphics department, Backyard Wrestling has nothing we haven't seen before. Average character designs, and even worse create-a-wrestler character models. The enviroments in which you do fight however, are pretty well done. The effects of some of the stuff is also fairly good, such as for instance the blood that splatters most everywhere. Each enviroment I saw while playing was unique, which is a plus. Overall though, compared to most other wrestling games on the Xbox, Backyard Wrestling truly lacks in the graphical department.

Sound: The sound is probably Backyard Wrestling's strong point. The part which actually made me stop from turning it off in the first ten minutes. The soundtrack is great if you love rock and punk rock. The actual sounds of the simple things, like the grunts from being bashed on the head with a car door are also pretty well done. The voice acting is up to par, and the one liners during gameplay add to the experience. Add in custom soundtrack for us non-rockers, and you got yourself a very solid sound structure.

Gameplay: Here's the problem, while the gameplay may offer a lot of what backyard wrestling is about, it doesn't really offer any wrestling. The grappling is very poorly done, as far as moves go. The same five moves can only get so boring so fast. The Creat-a-Wrestler feature lacks in options, where not even the color of your wrestler skin, his upper body and lower body clothes are not changeable except for a few mediocre templates. Please people, these features were present back in the Playstation and Nintendo 64 days! Now, back to the actual fighting. This game can be played as a simple button masher. Hit X, hit A. That's it. With the occasial B for grapple. And again, the moves continue to get repetative and don't differ from most of the superstars. The story mode itself opens up nicely, with a sub-funny FMV sequence opening up on a talk show, where the topic is backyard wrestling. To quote, ''America's scourge!''. When you get into the actual fighting, you're set certain tasks. One being defeat so and so, and there are three of these so and so's. Here's the problem: if you advance through the fights you're assigned, and for example say you've gone through 1 of the 3 people, and you're on the second, if you lose you must do the first over again. And this is a big problem. A very big problem which can get annoying fast. This certainly takes away from the experience, leaving you simply frusterated with the already lackluster gameplay mechanics.

Replayability: I'm sorry, but for me there is no replayability in this game at all. The only real reason to even bother going through the game over and over again with different people is for the unlockables, and unless one has great patience, this can prove to be a very annoying and tedious part of the game.

Overall: Overall, Backyard Wrestling proves that some bad games can only be upped by even worse games. Unless you're a fan of the Juggalo's, or an extremely huge fan of wrestling with the patience of a saint, I recommend you steer clear of Backyard Wrestling. For some, possibly even as a rental. A waste of $6.89. If Eidos has any plans on a sequel, I pray they fix the actual gameplay instead of having us struggle with boredom over the same old thing.
