Xenosaga's unique battle system can pit robots, humans, mobile suits, and more against enemies like simple little soldiers to giant alien Gnosis. How do you fight thenm you ask? Well. There are plenty of things... Elemental differences:

The elements* in Xenosaga are:

Aura:
Good versus fire and thunder. Weak Versus thunder.

Thunder:
Good versus aura. Weak versus aura and ice.

Fire:
Good versus ice. Weak versus aura.

Ice:
Good versus thunder. Weak versus fire.

Attributes:
The attributes in Xenosaga are a bit out of the ordinary. They are things like: -Pierce
-Shot
-Line
-Lightening/fire/aura/ice
-Hit
-Slash
-Beam
-S
-Air
They each have an effect against certain enemy defences: -Pierce:High defence
-Shot:Flying
-Line: N/A
-Lightening/fire/aura/ice: Opposite element
-Hit: Normal
-Slash: High defence
-Beam:High E.Defence
-S: N/A
-Air: N/A
Rows:
Xenosaga is much like Final Fantasy in the 'row' attribute of the game. There are two rows in this game, back and front. To change a row, when it is teh characters turn go to menu and choose 'Move' and than highlight the space you wish to go to. The rows are good for:

Front: Get's attacked more often; able to hit opponent with short ranged attack+ATK up.
Back: Won't get hit often untill the front row is wiped out. Can't hit opponent with short ranged attack; DEF up.
