Xenogears - Introduction

A war rages between two neighboring countries Aveh and Kislev. It is has been so long since the war started that nobody can remember how or why it started. Recently, massive humanoid fighting machines were unearthed from ancient ruins found underneath both countries. These "gears" drastically changed the nature of combat in this war. Our protagonist, Fei Fong Wong, lives on the outskirts of Aveh in a village called Lahan. Fei was an orphan, dropped off in Lahan by a mysterious man when he was very young. He has no recollection of his past before Lahan. One day battling gears land in Lahan. Amid the chaos Fei climbs into an abandoned gear in an attempt to save his village. He fights valiantly but loses control of the Gear causing most of his home, family and friends to be incinerated. When he comes to he exiles himself from the remains of the village and is told by his friend Citan to head south to Aveh to avoid pursuit by Kislev forces. So begins Fei's journey to uncover the truth behind the war, the world and his own mysterious past.
