The are 17 specialties that each character can choose to learn and use during the course of a game. Specialties allow you to create items, either using other items or from scratch, from the strongest items imagineable to the pointless throw away failures. There are two kinds of specialties, the ones that a single character uses, and ones that the whole party uses. These specialties are called super specialties. These involve the entire party, so therefore they need more than one person to have learned the necessary skills/specialties.

The two factors that success in item creation depends upon are the skill levels of the skills used in the specialty, and whether or not the character has the related talent needed to make the items. Some specialties have items that can also boost the rate of success in that field. Like the Lezard Flask with open up an entire new stock of minerals that you can possibly make via Alchemy. Some specialties will even effect the way other party members view you depending on how much you use it. Also playing Orchestra super specialty, while creating can also boost the chances alot, and whether or not that character can/will unlock a hidden talent related to the specialty.

The specialties are either found in the camp menu, or the item menu, by pressing the triangle button.
