Art lets a character create items that are mostly battle oriented. The uses for these items vary from items that damage enemies to ones that give the party more experience after battle. However in the beginning of the game when money is scarce this specialty may not be such a good idea due to the fact that the items required to make the stuff cost a pretty penny. So you may want to wait till later on in the game when money is easier to come by.
