Review

Story:
You play as Yuna who joined the Gullwings to find the one she loves. This game is different from other Final Fantasy’s since you decide which parts of the story you see. The story isn’t the best there has been but I wouldn’t call it a complete failure as others have. The story has 4 possible endings: a bad one, normal, good and perfect. Depending on the events you see and your percentage you get an ending. The only exception is the bad one. This ending can be seen by losing a certain battle. The part about Yuna finding her lover fades as you progress through the game and a different story takes over. The real story is about Lenne and Shuyin who lived a 1000 years ago in Zanarkand. However the good and perfect endings have something to do with Yuna and her lover. Story 3/5

Game Play:
From your airship the Celsius you go to a place in Spira. Some of these places are connected but not all of them. There is no world map just like in Final Fantasy X. For the battles Square-Enix brought back the Active Time Battle system. But besides the ATB system they also brought back the Class system from FFV only now a class is called a dress sphere. You have to put dress spheres in garment grids to be able to use them in battle. Each of the characters also has a special dress sphere. The game mainly progresses by performing missions. In this chapter of the Final Fantasy you can jump off and climb ledges. This game has a lot of mini games including a new version of Blitzball. In this version you don’t have to play the match yourself but you have to coach your team. You can hire new players, train your players and compete in tournaments to get great prizes. It is even possible to play against 2 secret teams. It isn’t easy to make them available for a match. Gameplay 5/5

Graphics:
The graphics have been enhanced a little since FFX but not a whole lot. You may think that this is not good. Fortunately the graphics in FFX were already magnificent. The in game graphics are beautiful and the Full Motion Video’s are almost lifelike. Graphics 5/5

Sound:
The music in this game was perfectly attuned to the environments. The music isn’t as great as the music from FFX but it is still very enjoyable. Sound 4/5

Overall:
The game is must play for anyone who has played FFX and anyone who likes to play RPG’s. The story department may be a bit less but the gameplay and graphics make more than up for that.
